Pick it up and you'll understand immediately.
The weight of solid sterling silver. Every link formed by hand, soldered, joined to the next. This is not a chain that was bought and fitted with a pendant. This is a chain that is the jewellery.
Look closely and you'll notice a rhythm. Every fifth link is oval, slightly larger, a subtle variation in an otherwise consistent pattern. It's the kind of detail you don't notice consciously but feel immediately. The eye follows the chain and finds something unexpected without being able to say exactly what it is.
The anchor clasp is hand made in sterling silver and sits at the front of the necklace as a feature rather than hiding at the back. It allows you to wear the necklace at its full 45cm length or shorten it to sit higher at the collarbone. One necklace, two completely different statements.
Catena is the Italian word for chain. It's also a nod to where Sue Dunmore trained forty years ago. Every link a small act of making. Every join a decision. The finished piece the sum of all of them.
Wear it alone. It doesn't need anything else.
Solid sterling silver. Approximately 45cm adjustable via anchor clasp. Weight approximately 80 grams. Links approximately 10mm with every fifth link oval at approximately 12mm. Each necklace handmade to order.
