The most extraordinary pearl in the Margalo collection. And the most humble about it.
A Keshi pearl forms by accident. No nucleus, no intention, just an oyster that decided to create something from pure nacre alone. The result is a pearl that is nacre all the way through, the most lustrous material a pearl can be made of, in a shape that is entirely its own. Rounded but never perfectly round. Soft indentations where the surface yielded to its own formation. Cloud-like in form and in colour, the gentle grey tones of a rain cloud before it breaks, light moving through the surface rather than sitting on top of it.
At approximately 7.5mm each Nimbus pearl is unique in a way that goes beyond the usual variations of a natural pearl. No two Keshi are ever the same shape. No two carry quite the same grey. No two have the same soft indentations in the same places.
Set simply on a sterling silver post with butterfly back. The setting steps back entirely. There is nothing to add to a Keshi pearl.
One pair. Completely individual. There will never be another pair exactly like this one.
Sterling silver post and butterfly back. Approximately 7.5mm freshwater Keshi pearl. Handmade in New Zealand by Sue Dunmore, Porini Design Studio.
