Ichiban. First. The beginning.

One high polish wire bisects a satin finished dome. That is everything. That is enough.

The single wire is the most reductive design in the collection and the most precise expression of the Wabi-Sabi tension. One straight line on one curved surface. The wire divides the dome into two halves that are almost but not quite identical, because a hand placed the wire and a hand is never perfectly centred.

The matte dome absorbs light on both sides of the division. The wire reflects it along a single line. Textural contrast in its purest and most minimal form.

Ichiban means first. This is where the collection begins.

Available in small 1cm, medium 1.2cm, or large 1.4cm. Sterling silver, satin dome with single high polish wire. Post soldered to centre, butterfly back. Gold wire available on request. Handmade in New Zealand by Sue Dunmore, Porini Design Studio.
